We are located in a village called Hentalkhali, which is reached via Budge Budge in the 24 Parganas South district. It’s a bit of a journey to get here from the main parts of Kolkata, but this is where Itd Cementatin India Ltd has its base. The atmosphere is much more rural than the city. You see a lot of greenery and the pace of life is definitely slower. Our office is just a simple building in the village. It’s where we keep all our logs and manage the local labor and materials. The weather in West Bengal is always a factor, and when it rains here, the roads get quite muddy. We just wear our boots and keep going. Inside the office, it is pretty quiet, except for the sound of the birds outside and the occasional motorbike passing by. We don't have any big signs or fancy lights. People in the village know where we are. It’s a very humble place to work. We spend our days making sure everything is running on time. We use a lot of handwritten notes because it’s often faster than waiting for the computer to boot up. It is a very basic, honest way to run a business. We are just regular people working in the village, doing our best to stay on top of things.
