Our office is in Calcutta on Judges Court Road, specifically Flat 5B in the Ratnabali building at 7A. It’s an older part of town with a lot of character. Being in a flat means it’s quite contained. We have a view of the trees and some other old buildings from the balcony of 5B. The lift in the building is one of those old manual ones that rattles a bit, so sometimes we just take the stairs if we aren't carrying too much. Inside the flat, we've converted the rooms into workspaces. The wiring is a bit messy behind the desks, but everything runs fine. We have a small pantry where we make our own coffee. The humidity in Calcutta can be a lot, so the AC is almost always running during the summer months. It’s a very local vibe here. You can hear the sounds of the street, the honking, and the vendors from down below if the windows are open. We’ve been here at Ratnabali for a while and the security guards know us all by name. It is a practical setup. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting lounge. If someone comes to see us, they just pull up a plastic chair and we talk. It’s straightforward and suits the way we work. We usually have a pile of newspapers in the corner that no one gets around to reading.
