About Irrigation &Waterways Department,Govt. Of West Bengal – Metals & Minerals in Kolkata
We are over here at 40/1 B R.N.Das Road in Kolkata. Most of the time, this place is just a lot of people moving around, looking at maps of the canals and the river systems around West Bengal. It’s a government office, so you can imagine the stacks of paper we have on every desk. Dealing with the water in this state is a big job because of how much rain we get. Sometimes the monsoon makes everything feel a bit frantic, but we just keep at it. People come in from all over the districts to talk about their local drainage issues or how the dams are holding up. It isn't a fancy place by any means. The ceiling fans hum all day and we drink a lot of tea while looking at project files. Being in the Irrigation & Waterways Department means you're always thinking about the next season. We’ve been at this address for a while now. It’s tucked away in a busy part of the city, and finding a parking spot is usually a nightmare for anyone visiting. We don't have a big fancy lobby. It's just desks, computers, and people trying to figure out how to keep the water moving where it needs to go. If you walk in, you’ll see the staff busy with their logs and charts. We handle a lot of technical stuff that doesn't sound very exciting, but it's what keeps the farms and towns from getting into trouble when the rivers rise.
