Industrial Enterprises

Our office is tucked away on the first floor of Bagree Market, over at Block-C 127. If you know this part of Kolkata, you know how Biplabi Rash Behari Basu Road gets. It’s a maze of shops and people, especially around the old Canning Street area. We’ve been part of Industrial Enterprises for years, working out of this same spot. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit steep, and it’s always loud with the street noise coming through the windows. We deal with various industrial supplies, mostly keeping track of what’s coming in and what’s going out to the different markets. It’s not a large space, just enough for some desks and a bit of storage for the smaller items. Sometimes the electricity acts up or the rain makes things damp, but that’s just part of being in an old building like this. We spend most of our time on the phone or talking to people who walk in looking for specific parts. It’s a lot of paperwork and checking ledgers by hand. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who have been here since the beginning. It feels right being in the middle of all the trade. You get to know the other shopkeepers and the tea sellers downstairs pretty well. It’s busy, often dusty, and sometimes a bit overwhelming, but it’s our daily routine and we’re used to the chaos of the market.
