Our office for Ijm (India)Infrastructure Ltd. is tucked away in the Lichu Bagan area of Kolkata, specifically at S/36/1 in Badertalla. Being in Matiabruz, the atmosphere is always a bit lively and sometimes a little hectic with people moving around on the narrow streets. We’ve been operating from this spot for some time now, focusing on the infrastructure side of things. It’s a lot of manual tracking of materials and making sure the sites have what they need for the day. The building itself is pretty old, which is typical for this part of the city. We have a few computers that are a bit slow, but they get the job done for our reports. Rain in Kolkata often slows things down, so we spend those days catching up on filing and making sure our logs are updated correctly. The local tea stalls nearby are where we usually grab a quick break in the afternoon. We don't have a big corporate lobby or anything. It's just a front room with some chairs and the back area where the main work happens. Communication with the head office takes up a good chunk of the morning. Most of our guys are locals who know the streets well, which helps when we need to move around the city. It’s just a regular workplace where we keep things moving as best as we can without much fuss. We usually head home once the paperwork is sorted.
