We are based at 18/10 Dover Lane, right off Sarat Bose Road. It’s a nice area with a lot of character, typical of this part of Kolkata. The office is in an older building, so it has those high ceilings and big windows that let in a bit of the street noise. We share the space with a lot of desks and filing cabinets that have seen better days. It’s not a corporate showroom; it’s just where we handle the administrative side of things for I T W India. You can usually find us typing away or talking on the phone. The sounds of the tram and the cars on Sarat Bose Road are always in the background. We have a small pantry where we make tea, and that’s usually where the good conversations happen. It gets quite humid here, so the air conditioning is always running, even if it rattles a bit sometimes. We don’t have a lot of fancy decorations on the walls, just some calendars and a few old photos. Most of the people who work here live nearby, so we know the local shops and some decent places to get a snack in the afternoon. It’s a quiet enough place to get work done, but you still feel like you’re part of the city. We’ve been at this Dover Lane address for a while and we’ve gotten used to the way the light hits the desks in the late afternoon. It’s just a regular office where we do our daily jobs.
