Kamla Knit Fab

Kamla Knit Fab is situated in the Belvedere Mill Complex. We are in Godown No. U-1B, which is over in South Sankrail, Howrah. It is a large industrial space, so there is plenty of room for all our stuff. We deal with knitting and fabrics, which means the place is always full of big rolls of cloth. It can get quite hot in the warehouse, especially during the summer months when the sun hits the roof. We have several large fans to keep the air moving, but it’s still a tough environment sometimes. There is always a fine layer of dust or lint on the surfaces, which is just part of working with textiles. We have a crew that handles the machines and the loading. The sound of the knitting machines is quite loud, so you have to raise your voice to be heard. It’s not a fancy place. We have a small corner with a desk and some old chairs where we handle the paperwork and take calls. Outside, there are always trucks coming in and out of the complex, which makes it a very busy area. We’ve been here in South Sankrail for a long time. We don't have a big corporate office or anything. We just stay here where the work actually happens. It’s hard work, but we take it one day at a time. The fabric keeps piling up and we keep moving it out.
