Housewife

This address on R.K. Mukherjee Lane is where we are. It’s in the Sinthi area of Kolkata. It's a narrow lane, like many others in this part of the city. We go by Housewife here because that's the main thing happening at 26/28. Life in Kolkata moves in its own way, and our house is part of that rhythm. There is always something to do, whether it's managing the groceries or keeping the place from getting too dusty. The heat here can be quite intense in the summer months, so we usually keep the fans going all day. It’s not a commercial business with customers coming in and out. It’s just a private home where the daily routine of a family takes place. We have lived in this neighborhood for a long time and know the local market sellers by name. The house is old but it has a lot of character and history. We don't have a staff or a marketing team. It’s just us doing what needs to be done to keep a home running smoothly. Some days are more productive than others. We might spend the afternoon just sitting in the shade if it’s too hot to move around much. It’s a simple, everyday kind of existence without any big goals other than staying comfortable and happy together.
