Hiralal Chowhan Co. is located right on Canning Street, specifically at No. 21-D. If you’ve ever been down this way, you know how crowded it gets. The traffic is constant and there’s always someone shouting or a horn honking. We’ve been in this building for quite some time. The walls are thick and it stays a bit cooler inside than out on the street. It’s a busy spot but we like the energy of the market. Working here means you see all sorts of people every day. We handle our daily tasks without much fuss. It’s not a modern office with glass walls; it’s more of a traditional setup. We have desks piled with ledgers and old chairs that creak when you sit down. Canning Street has its own rhythm and we’ve become a part of it. Some days are long, especially when shipments are late or the weather is bad. But we open up every morning regardless of what’s happening. Being at 21-D makes it easy for people to find us once they get off the main road. We don’t spend much time on decorations or looking fancy. Most of our space is taken up by the work itself. It’s a practical way to run a business. We know the tea stall guy nearby and the other shop owners on our block. It’s a community of workers. We just keep our heads down and get through the day's list without worrying about anything else. There is always plenty to keep us busy until we head home.
