If you find yourself on R. K. Banerjee Street in Telinipara, you’ll see our place at number 9. Hindustan Motors Ltd has been operating out of this corner of Hooghly for ages. It’s a small street, so things can get a bit cramped when the delivery vans try to back in. We’ve all learned to move fast when a horn honks. The building is solid, though it shows its age in the corners. We don't have any flashy signs or glass windows. It's more about the work happening inside. We handle a lot of different motor parts and mechanical stuff. The air usually smells like grease and maybe a bit of exhaust. It's a smell you get used to after the first week. We drink a lot of chai to keep going during the afternoon slump. Most of the staff here live nearby, so we know all the local talk. We don't talk like those corporate types you see on TV. We just say what needs to be done and do it. Sometimes the rain leaks in a little near the back door, so we keep the stock on pallets. It’s just common sense. We aren't looking for awards. We just want to get through the day’s tasks without too much trouble. If you’re coming from the main road, just look for the R. K. Banerjee sign and keep walking until you see the grease on the pavement. We'll be around most days until late.
