We've been at 17 Paramahansa Dev Road in Nabagram for quite a while now. If you know the Hooghly district, you know how things move here. Hindustan Motors Ltd isn't just a name on a gate; it's where we show up every morning, usually before the sun gets too hot. The shop floor has that smell of oil and old metal that never really goes away. We deal with machines and parts mostly. Sometimes the trucks arrive late because of the road conditions, but we just deal with it. It gets noisy when the heavy work starts. My desk is tucked away in a corner with too many papers piled up. We aren't fancy people. We wear work clothes that get stained by lunch. People from around Nabagram and the rest of Hooghly come by when they need something specific for their vehicles or projects. We don't have a big reception area with air conditioning. You just walk in and talk to whoever is free. Most of us have worked here for years, so we know the quirks of the equipment. Sometimes the electricity acts up, and we have to wait it out. It’s a practical way of living. We just keep the gears turning and try to get the orders out on time. It's nothing like those big offices in the city. Here, it’s about the hands-on stuff. If you're looking for us, look for the old gate near the post office.
