In Kolkata, Hindustan Construction Company Ltd. is located at 108/110 Old Calcutta Road in Barrackpore. We are in Chanakya Apartment, specifically Block B, Flat No 2 C. It’s an older building with a lot of character, and our office fits right in. The rooms are a bit dark, and we have to keep the lights on even during the day. It’s a busy place with a lot of paper moving across desks. We deal with all sorts of construction projects, and this flat serves as our main hub for the area. The neighborhood is full of history and the streets can get quite congested, especially during festival times. Inside, we have a few ceiling fans that spin constantly to keep the air moving. We aren't much for fancy technology; we still use a lot of physical ledgers alongside our computers. It’s just the way we’ve always done things. The staff is local, and there’s always a bit of chatter about the daily news or what’s happening on the job sites. We don't have a big corporate lobby. You just walk in and you're right in the middle of the work. It’s a bit messy, with files stacked on the floor and empty tea cups on the tables. We focus on getting the work done and making sure the projects stay on schedule. It’s honest, hardworking stuff, and we’re just glad to be a part of it. There is always something to do but we enjoy the pace.
