You can find us at 100B on the ground floor over on Karaya Road in Ballygunge. It is an old part of town and our space definitely shows its age. The walls could use a bit of paint, but we are usually too busy with the wood to worry about that. There is always a smell of fresh timber in the air which I have grown to like over the years. We keep the big pieces of wood in the back and the smaller stuff near the entrance. Ballygunge gets very busy, especially when schools let out, and the street noise comes right through the front. We have a couple of old fans that rattle when they are on high, but they keep us cool enough. It is a hands-on kind of place. We spend our time measuring, cutting, and making sure the inventory is where it should be. Sometimes a cat from the alley comes in to sleep on the piles of wood shavings. We don't bother it. Working here at Himatsingka Woods means getting your clothes dirty and having a bit of grit under your fingernails. We take our lunch breaks together on the small bench outside when the weather is decent. It is not a corporate setup, just a local spot on Karaya Road where we have been for a long time. Every piece of wood has its own story, and we just handle them one by one.
