Our place is located in Bidhanpally Tentultala, which is in the Madhyamgram area of Kolkata. Himalay-Transworld functions as an authorised channel partner, but mostly we are just people who know a lot about moving goods around this part of West Bengal. The area around the office is a bit narrow, so we have to be careful with how the vehicles are parked. It’s a lively neighborhood with a lot of local shops. We start our mornings with a lot of talk about routes and which roads are closed for repairs or festivals. Kolkata traffic can be a real headache, so we spend a lot of time planning around it. Our office is simple and honestly a bit crowded with all the files and folders we have to keep. We don’t have a big marketing budget or anything like that. We just rely on the fact that we’ve been here for a while and people know who we are. Some days are just about waiting for a truck to arrive from a long trip across the state. We drink a lot of chai and talk to the people who stop by for work. It’s a very hands-on job. We have to check the weights and the addresses carefully every time a load comes in. It’s not a high-tech operation, just a lot of practical knowledge about how to get things from one side of the city to the other. We just try to be honest and get it done.
