Akash Paper Plate Production House

Down at Halisahar Dongaripada Ghodbunder Road, you’ll find us running the machines. Akash Paper Plate Production House is basically a workshop where we turn paper into stuff people use at parties and stalls. It gets pretty dusty with all the paper scraps, so we spend a lot of time sweeping up. The machines have a specific rhythm to them. Once they start, we just keep feeding them the raw materials. We make different sizes, some small for snacks and bigger ones for full meals. It’s repetitive work, but it keeps the neighborhood supplied. The location on Ghodbunder Road is convenient for the delivery trucks to pull in and out. We don't have a big sales team. Most people just know where we are and come by to pick up their bundles. The storage area is usually stacked high with cardboard boxes ready to go. We try to keep the quality steady so the plates don't get soggy or bend too easily when someone is eating. Sometimes the power goes out and everything stops, which is annoying, but that's just part of working in this area. We’ve been here for a bit and people seem to know the name. It’s just a production house, nothing more, nothing less. We just focus on making sure the plates are cut right and packed properly before they leave the door. It takes a lot of effort every single day.
