We are located on Mount Road over in Akra Bhatta. It’s a busy road so we get a lot of trucks and cars stopping by throughout the day. Our shop is full of tyres stacked up to the ceiling in every corner. It smells like rubber and old oil in here, but that’s just how it is in this trade. We help people change their tyres or fix punctures when they get stuck. It’s dirty work and our hands are always black with grease by the end of the shift. We have an old machine for balancing that makes a loud clanking noise every time we use it. The floor is concrete and has some big cracks in it from moving heavy wheels around for years. We don't have a waiting room for customers, just a couple of plastic stools near the entrance. Most customers just stand around and watch us work anyway while they wait. My brother and I started this after working at a bigger garage for a long time. We prefer being our own bosses even if it’s more physical work for us. Sometimes the rain blows in through the front because we keep the big door open all day for ventilation. We have a small kettle for making tea during the short breaks. It isn't a fancy place but we get the tyres fitted right every time. People know us as the reliable spot on the road.
