Guideline Education Centre

Guideline Education Centre is located at 190, Vivekananda Road, right in the Beadon Street area. We are directly across from the Maniktala Bazar, which is one of the busiest spots in this part of Kolkata. There is a constant stream of people, buses, and taxis going past our front door. It can be quite loud outside, but once you step inside, it gets a bit calmer. The building is an older one, and we occupy a space that has been used for teaching for quite a while now. We have rows of benches and a few boards for writing. The rooms aren't very big, so things can feel a bit tight when a full class is in session. We start our work after the schools let out for the day. Students come in from all directions, often grabbing a snack from the bazaar before they head up to us. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room. Parents usually just stand near the entrance or come back later to pick up their children. The fans run constantly to keep the air moving. We spend our hours going over lessons and checking notebooks. It’s a very straightforward way to run a center. We don’t bother with much else besides the teaching itself. By the time we close up, the market across the street is usually starting to wind down for the night. It’s a long day, but it’s what we do.
