Gillanders Arbuthnot & Co. Limited, Unit : Micco

Our office for the MICCO unit of Gillanders Arbuthnot & Co. Limited is on the 4th floor of Punjab House in Kolkata. The address is 48/4 Rishi Aurobinda Sarani. It’s a very busy street, and the building has been around for a long time, so it has that old Kolkata feel. Working on the 4th floor gets us a little bit away from the constant noise of the traffic below, but you can still hear the city moving. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of filing cabinets and desks where people are busy with paperwork or on the phone. We handle the industrial and construction work for the company. Kolkata is a place where you have to be patient, so we spend a lot of time following up on things and checking on how projects are doing. It isn't a modern office with bright colors or new furniture; it’s a traditional place where the focus is just on getting the work done. We have a small team here, and many of us have worked together for a long time, so we know the routine. Sometimes the elevator stops working and we have to walk up, but that’s just how it goes in an older building. We don't spend anything on fancy decorations.
