Gem Forgings Private Limited is located on the 3rd floor of 10/C, Middleton Row. It’s a bit unusual to have a forging company office up on the third floor, but that’s where the planning and the paperwork happen. You have to take the lift or the stairs up, and once you’re inside, it’s a different world from the busy street below. There is always a stack of invoices on someone’s desk and a few metal samples sitting around as paperweights. We deal with a lot of heavy-duty stuff, even if the actual heavy hammers are somewhere else. Here in the office, it’s about coordination and making sure the orders for the forged parts are moving through the system. The building has that old Kolkata charm, which means thick walls and sometimes a bit of a draft from the windows. We aren't big on formalities here. Most of the time, we are just sitting around the main table talking about production schedules or checking on a shipment that’s stuck somewhere. It’s a small team, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything, from answering the door to filing away technical specs. Middleton Row is a nice spot to be, even if parking is a nightmare most days of the week. We keep things simple and just focus on getting the day's tasks done without making a big fuss about it. It’s been our home for a long time now and we know the area well.
