Our spot in Dhakuria is tucked away in Adarsha Nagar. If you’ve been around Kolkata, you know how these neighborhoods can be—a bit cramped but full of life. This Gannon Dunkerley & Co., Ltd office has been part of the scene for a good while. It’s a 3/25 address, and honestly, the stairs are a bit narrow. We don’t have much room for fancy decorations. Most of the space is taken up by old blueprints and filing cabinets that have seen better days. The team here is small, and we mostly focus on the technical side of things. We talk to the guys on the sites across the city and try to keep the supply chains from breaking down. Traffic in Kolkata is always a nightmare, so getting anywhere takes twice as long as it should. We’ve learned to be patient. There’s a tea stall just around the corner where we usually take our breaks. It’s not a corporate environment. We wear regular clothes and speak our minds. Sometimes things get a bit chaotic when three people are talking at once, but we always figure out the solution. It’s a practical office for practical people. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every day. It is definitely not a high-rise glass building, but it is where we get the real work done without any of the extra fuss.
