Our business, Gangotri Trade Link Pvt Ltd, is located in the Naiyapara area of Diamond Harbour in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. Being near the water means the air is always a bit humid, and the town is usually buzzing with activity. We operate out of a modest building in Panchanantala. It’s not a fancy office by any means, but it’s where all the magic happens for us. We spend most of our time coordinating trades and making sure things get from point A to point B. It involves a lot of phone calls and ledger keeping. The local markets around here are always full of people, and sometimes it’s hard to even find a parking spot near our place. We’ve been here for a long time, so we know the local traders and the way things work in this part of Bengal. We don’t have a big corporate team; it’s just a few of us who have grown up in this area. We take our work seriously, but we also take time for a cup of tea and a chat about the news. It’s a very traditional way of doing business, where your word means a lot.
