Gangaram Pannalall & Co. is found on the second floor of 207 Maharshi Devendra Road, specifically in room number 55. This part of the city is always packed with trucks and laborers carrying heavy loads on their heads. Our office is in an old building with high ceilings and thick walls. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, especially when it’s hot, but we don't mind the exercise. Inside, it’s filled with the smell of old paper and the sound of fans whirring overhead. We’ve been operating from this same spot for a long time now. The furniture is old and sturdy, the kind that lasts for decades. We don't use computers for everything; there are still plenty of handwritten ledgers and physical files around. It’s just how we have always done it. Most of our day is spent talking to traders and managing accounts. The street below is constantly loud with horns and shouting, but inside the office, things are a bit more quiet. We take a break in the middle of the day for a simple lunch brought from home. We aren't looking to change much about how we work. It’s a traditional way of doing business where your word matters more than a fancy contract. We just show up every morning, unlock the door, and get to work until it’s time to go home and do it again tomorrow.
