Friends India

Our office is on the 1st floor at 63 Radhabazar Street. It is right in the middle of everything, near the Tea Board, so the streets are always packed. Friends India is a name we have used for a long time, and we just operate out of this one floor. It is a bit of a climb up the stairs when you are carrying boxes, but we are used to it by now. The windows do not let in much breeze, so we keep the fans on high from morning until night. We spend our time checking orders and making sure the printing is coming out okay. There is no corporate ladder here; we just work alongside each other and try to get things out the door. The floor is old wood and it creaks when you walk across it. We do not have a mission statement hanging on the wall. We just have a calendar and a lot of sticky notes with phone numbers on them. Most days are pretty much the same. We arrive, make some tea, and start on the pile of work. If someone is late, we just cover for them. It is a simple arrangement. We are not trying to change the world or anything. We just want to make sure the work is done so we can go home to our families. It is a decent way to spend the day in a busy city like this.
