Expo India

We are tucked away in Block-D of New Alipore, specifically at 56F. It’s a residential neighborhood mostly, so it’s a bit unusual to have an office like Expo India right here, but it works for us. The building is an older one, and the stairs are a bit steep if you’re carrying anything heavy. We have a small sign on the door, but most people miss it the first time they visit. Inside, it’s a bit of a mess with samples and catalogs piled up on every available surface. We do exhibitions and trade stuff, so there’s always a crate being packed or unpacked in the middle of the floor. The walls are painted a light blue that’s started to peel a bit near the ceiling. We have a small balcony where we go to get some air, though all you see are the tops of the trees and the neighbor's laundry hanging out. It’s a quiet life here compared to the downtown offices. We know the local chai stall owner by name, and he knows exactly how much sugar we like. Sometimes the internet goes out when it rains hard, and we all just sit around talking until it comes back. It isn't a high-tech operation, just a few computers and a lot of notebooks filled with scribbles. It feels more like a home than a workplace sometimes, which is fine by us.
