This location is at the house of Lakhikanta Dinda in B-Block, Durgachak. We are right in the heart of Haldia, which is a big industrial hub in West Bengal. Working out of a residential house gives things a different feel than a big factory or a warehouse. We have some space set aside for the batteries and a small area for keeping the books and paperwork. It is often quite noisy outside because of the heavy trucks moving toward the port, but we have gotten used to it over the years. The Medinipore weather can be pretty harsh, so we keep the stock covered and protected from the rain. Lakhikanta is around most of the time, helping out with the daily tasks that need doing. We do not have any big signs or neon lights on the house. It is just a house in a regular block where we do our business. We spend a lot of time checking the battery levels and making sure nothing is leaking. It is physical work, and our hands are usually a bit dirty. We do not have a fancy coffee machine, just a small stove for making tea. We know the local shopkeepers and they know us. If someone has a problem with their battery, they just walk over and we take a look. It is a simple, honest way to make a living. We do not try to sound like a big company, even though we are part of a larger network.
