We operate out of the house belonging to Anup Maity in the Uttarpally area of Haldia. It is in Utar Durgachak, which is a busy part of the Midnapur East district. Haldia is a port town, so there is always a lot of dust and the smell of industry in the air. We keep our battery stock here in a simple room. It is not a polished corporate office by any means. We are just local people working in a local house. The atmosphere is very informal most of the time. Usually, you will find us sitting around talking about the day’s deliveries or checking the inventory lists to see what is missing. Anup’s house is easy enough to find for the delivery drivers who come and go. We deal with the heat and the humidity every day, and we do not have any fancy cooling systems. We just open the windows and hope for a breeze to come through. Most of our work involves moving batteries to the nearby factories or shops that need them. We do not have a website or a big marketing plan. People just know we are here in Uttarpally and they come to us when they need a new battery for their truck or home. We have our tea together in the afternoon and close up when the work is finished. It is a very basic way of doing things, but it is how we like it. No stress, just work.
