Our office is tucked away in the Chartered Bank Building, specifically at number 4 on N S Road. It is an old building, very typical for this part of Calcutta near the GPO. You can feel the history in the walls, though mostly it just means the elevators are a bit slow and the hallways are a bit dark. At Evershine Customs Pvt Ltd, we spend a lot of our time dealing with heaps of paperwork and forms. It is the kind of place where files are stacked pretty high on the desks. We have a few old wooden chairs for visitors, though it’s mostly just us and the messengers coming in and out all day. Being near the GPO is handy for us because of all the mail and official stuff we have to handle. The noise from N S Road is constant, with all the horns and people shouting, but after a while, you just stop hearing it. We aren't a big corporate firm with glass walls. It's more about the grit and the daily grind of getting things cleared. Sometimes the tea man comes by and that’s the highlight of the afternoon. We have been in this building for years, and while the paint might be peeling in a few corners, it serves us just fine. We just focus on the documents and making sure everything is filed where it needs to be. It is a lot of reading and checking details.
