Our place is over at 8, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sarani in Kolkata. It’s right across from the main landmark there, which makes it easier for people to find us in the middle of all the city noise. We work with drones, which is a bit different from the other businesses on this street. Most of our time is spent checking batteries, updating software, or looking at propellers that got dinged up. The humidity in West Bengal can be a real pain for the electronics, so we have to keep everything stored carefully. The office isn't very large, so we have to be careful not to trip over the landing gear or the boxes of spare parts. Sometimes we go out to an open space to test things, but a lot of the work happens right here at the desk. We started this because we liked the technology, and it just grew into a full-time thing. It’s not always exciting; there is a lot of paperwork and waiting for parts to arrive in the mail. We drink a lot of coffee while we wait for files to upload. If you walk in, you’ll probably see a couple of drones sitting on the workbench in different stages of being put together. It’s a bit of a specialized shop, but we’re just regular people trying to keep these machines flying right. The building is old but it stays cool enough during the summer months.
