Our place is over at 75B Christopher Road. It’s an older building, and we’ve been here at Elegant Fashion Fiber Chemicals for quite a long time. This isn't the kind of place where you’ll find fashion runways or models. We deal with the more practical side of things, like the fibers and the chemicals that go into making materials. It’s a bit of a messy business sometimes. There are drums of stuff stacked in the corner and the smell of various processing agents in the air. We don't have a fancy lobby with a fountain or anything. It’s mostly just concrete floors and heavy-duty shelving. People who work here wear boots and practical clothes because things can get spilled or dusty. Christopher Road is a busy spot, so there’s always trucks coming and going, picking up or dropping off supplies. We keep to ourselves mostly and focus on getting the mixtures right. It’s a lot of measuring and testing. Sometimes a batch doesn't turn out perfect, and we have to start over. That’s just part of the daily job. We aren't trying to be famous or anything. We just provide what the textile industry needs to keep moving. Most of us have lived in this part of the city our whole lives. We know the neighbors and the other businesses on the block. It’s a steady job in a busy part of town, and we’re used to the noise and the smells of the workplace.
