The Electrical Manufacturing Co Ltd is located at 4/1-A/1, Kartick Chandra Ghosh Lane. That is over in the Bally area of Howrah. If you know this particular lane, it’s a bit tucked away from the main road, but the building is easy enough to spot once you get close. We have been manufacturing various electrical parts here for a very long time. It has that old industrial feel that you find in this part of the country. You can always hear the rhythmic sounds of the machinery working from out on the street. The 711 201 area is full of small shops and residential houses, so we have always fit right into the community. The walls inside could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but the machines are what matter and they work just fine. We spend almost all of our time on the production floor making sure everything is moving along. It’s not a corporate office where people are dressed up in suits and ties. We usually have grease on our hands and a bit of dust on our shirts by noon. The humidity in Howrah can be really tough, especially when the rainy season starts. We just keep the ceiling fans going and get the daily work finished. The lane is narrow, so getting the delivery trucks in and out is always a bit of a challenge for the drivers. Everyone knows our spot.
