Over here in Kolkata-53, things are always moving fast at Elbee Express Pvt Ltd. The office stays pretty busy with people coming in to check on their parcels or asking about delivery times. Our desks are usually covered in manifests and small scraps of paper with scribbled addresses. It gets quite loud when the shutters go up in the morning and the first set of workers starts sorting through the bags. The city streets outside are narrow and sometimes the rain makes everything a bit slower, but that is just how it goes in this part of West Bengal. Most of the staff have been around for years, so we know the shortcuts through the traffic. We don't have a big reception area or anything like that. Just some chairs and a counter where the phone rings more often than not. Sometimes the electricity cuts out for a few minutes and we just sit there talking until the generator kicks in. It is a practical setup. We handle a lot of boxes and envelopes every day, making sure they get to where they need to go without getting lost in the shuffle. It isn't a glamorous job, but it is what we do here in the neighborhood. You will see our people out and about in their uniforms, mostly looking tired but still getting through the list of deliveries before the day ends.
