Seni

Seni is our little spot on Dum Dum Road, not too far from the Axis Bank. If you know this part of the city, you know how crowded the sidewalks get, especially when people are coming home from work. Our shop is quite small, but we try to make the most of the space we have. We’ve got shelves lining every wall, packed with all sorts of things. Sometimes it’s hard to find what you’re looking for, but we usually know exactly which corner it’s tucked into. We get a lot of commuters who pop in quickly while they’re walking to the metro or the bus stop. The noise from the traffic outside is constant, but after a while, you stop noticing the horns and the engines. We have an old ceiling fan that squeaks a bit, but it keeps the air moving during those humid months. It’s just a couple of us working here. We start our day by sweeping the front and getting the displays ready. We don't have a website or any big advertisements. People just know we are here because they pass us every day. We’ve seen many other shops come and go on Dum Dum Road, but we’ve managed to stick around. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and talking to customers, but it feels good to be part of the local street life. We just take things one day at a time.
