Drawing School Mon

We have been here on Baithak Khana Road for quite a while now. It's a busy part of Bowbazar, right near the Sealdah Station area. People usually find us easily because of Surya Sen Street being right there. It is mostly just kids and some older folks coming in to pick up a pencil or a brush. We do not have any fancy stuff here, just some wooden tables and chairs and plenty of paper. Sometimes the noise from the station carries over, but we just focus on the sketches. It started out very small. Most of our students live around here or take the train in. We spend the afternoons looking at colors and trying to get the lines right on the page. It is not always quiet, but it feels like the right kind of energy for an art space. We do not do much advertising. People just see the sign at 96A and walk inside. Sometimes the ceiling fans are a bit loud in the summer months. We keep the doors open mostly to let some air in. It is a simple setup. You will not find anything high-tech here. We just use what we have available. Sometimes we run out of desk space when the bigger groups show up, so we just squeeze in. It is fine, though. We like the neighborhood. It has changed a lot, but this spot stays pretty much the same. We have some regulars who have been coming for years and they know where everything is.
