Our place is situated at 2/84 Gandhi Colony, over in the Regent Estate area of Kolkata. If you know the 700 092 pin code area, you know it has that old Kolkata feel to it. Dlf Laingo'Rourke (India) Ltd is just run out of this space, and we keep things pretty low-key. The street can be a bit narrow, and finding a parking spot is a nightmare if you arrive after ten in the morning, but we’ve managed to stay here quite a while. Inside, it’s mostly just shelves and old computers. We spend our days mostly answering the phone and checking on project details that come through. It’s not a shiny glass tower; it’s just a regular building in a regular neighborhood. Sometimes the humidity in Kolkata makes the papers curl up, but that’s just life here. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that, so most folks who find us either already know where we are or were told by a friend. We take our lunch breaks together usually, and someone always brings in sweets from the shop around the corner. It is a simple way of working, without any of the corporate talk or big meetings that don’t go anywhere. We just focus on the lists we have for the day and try to get home before the evening rain starts. It is just us here, doing our bit.
