About Diamond Group, Kolkata – Metals & Minerals in Kolkata
Amherst Street has that old Kolkata feel that you just do not find in the newer parts of the city. We are at 1/A, right in the thick of the noise and the crowds. The building has those very high ceilings and heavy wooden doors that have been around forever. It gets loud outside with the taxi horns and people shouting, but once you are inside, it is manageable. We are close to all the local shops and the tea stalls that stay busy all day. There is always someone coming or going through the front entrance. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint if we ever found the time, but for now, they stay as they are. We have a lot of old files and ledgers stored in the back rooms. It is not the kind of place where you will find modern art or expensive rugs on the floor. We just have plain desks and chairs that do the job. The monsoon season is a bit tricky because the street outside tends to flood a bit, but we just wear our boots and keep things moving along. Most of the staff takes the bus or a rickshaw to get here every morning. It is a convenient spot even if the space is a little bit cramped. Sometimes the ceiling fan rattles when we put it on high speed. It is just how this part of Kolkata is.
