In Kolkata, we are over at Prince Tower on Gobindo Banerjee Lane. It’s specifically Flat No E on the second floor. 31/2 is the building number. Finding it can be a little tricky the first time because the lane is narrow and there are always rickshaws and people everywhere. The tower itself is one of those older Kolkata structures that has a lot of character. We have to walk up the stairs if the power is out, which happens sometimes. The office is basically an apartment that we’ve turned into a workspace. It’s got high ceilings and those old-style windows that let in a lot of light. We sit in Flat E and handle the daily business for Carl F India. It’s not a sterile environment; there are stacks of papers and boxes of hardware everywhere. We drink a lot of tea throughout the day and talk about the local football scores or the price of fish. It’s a very Kolkata way of working. We don't use much formal language with each other. We’re more like a small family that happens to work in the same flat. It gets humid in the afternoons, so we keep the fans on full blast. We just do our jobs, answer the phone, and make sure everything is recorded properly in the books before we close up for the day. It is a bit messy, but it works for us.
