Cargo Officer

This is the place where I handle the cargo work in Kolkata. We are located at 2 New Panchanan Talaroad. The area stays quite crowded most of the time and the roads are pretty narrow. It is more like a small, local office than any big corporate setup. I have been working out of this part of town for a long time. The building is an old one, which is common here in West Bengal. Being a married man with a family, I keep this as a steady operation to provide for them. Most days it is just me and maybe a couple of helpers when things get busy. We do not have any complicated structure or different departments here. We just take the cargo orders and try to make sure the goods get where they are supposed to go. There is a lot of manual paperwork to do. We keep all the records in some old wooden cabinets that have been around for years. The neighbors are friendly and we often stop to chat for a bit during the hot afternoons. It is not a high-tech place by any means. We use the phone a lot to check on the drivers. Sometimes the power goes out, so we just take a break and sit outside on the steps. It is a simple way of working. I know the local drivers well. Most of my day is spent checking schedules and writing down figures. It is just a practical life.
