Car House

Car House is situated at 16A, Abhay Sarkar Lane, which is just off Lala Lajpat Rai Sarani. It’s an interesting little corner of the world. The lane itself is a bit narrow, so you have to be careful when you’re bringing a car in. It’s one of those spots that feels tucked away even though it’s near a main road. We’ve been working out of this building for some time now. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't gotten around to it yet because there’s always something else to do. Inside, it smells like oil and old floor wax. We have a small desk where the paperwork piles up, but most of the time is spent on the shop floor. The neighbors are mostly quiet, though you hear the city sounds in the distance. Sometimes the mailman stops for a chat because we’re usually the only ones with the door wide open. It’s not a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s just us and the cars. We have a few old calendars on the wall and a radio that mostly plays static if the antenna isn't pointed just right. It’s an honest place to work. You get your hands dirty and you go home tired at the end of the day. That’s pretty much the long and short of it for us here on Abhay Sarkar Lane.
