Camco is tucked away at 45, Prince Rahimuddin Lane in Tollygunge. If you know Kolkata, you know Tollygunge is famous for the film studios and the old tram lines. Our place is on a lane that can be a bit narrow, so getting large vehicles in is always a bit of a puzzle. We have been here for quite some time now. The building is older, with high ceilings and those heavy wooden doors you see around this part of the city. We don't have a modern office with sleek furniture. Our desks are old and covered in papers and spare parts. It’s a busy atmosphere with people coming in to ask questions or pick up things they’ve ordered. We spend a lot of time on the phone, often shouting a bit to be heard over the noise from the street outside. My neighbor sometimes drops by for a chat while we are working. We handle a lot of different mechanical and electrical items. It's the kind of work where you’re always learning something new because every order is a bit different. We don't really do much in the way of promotion. People in Tollygunge and the surrounding areas just know we are here. Sometimes we close up a bit early if the weather is really bad or if there is a festival going on. It’s a very local way of doing business, rooted in the neighborhood. We just keep going and hope the rain doesn't flood the lane too much.
