CAMARENA Festival Of Photography

You can find us at the Mayur Hotel Building over on Lenin Sarani. We are on the first floor which is right above Capital Photo Service. This part of Kolkata is always moving and there is a lot of noise from the street outside. We have been involved with photography for a very long time now. For us it is not just about the equipment but more about the whole process of taking pictures and seeing how they turn out. The office is usually cluttered with old prints and different kinds of camera gear that we have collected over the years. We have many people dropping by just to talk about lenses or to show us photos from their latest trips. It has become a bit of a meeting spot for anyone who carries a camera. The building itself has that old feeling you only find in this city. Sometimes when it rains hard the window near the back leaks a little bit but we just put a bucket there and carry on with our work. We don't do any big marketing or anything like that. People know where we are because we have been in this spot for so long. We spend our days sorting through events and looking at a lot of images. It is a lot of quiet work that people don't really see. We drink plenty of coffee while we are planning out the next thing. We aren't trying to be the biggest, just a place where people feel okay hanging out.
