Calcutta Shipping Bureau

Our office is situated on the third floor of an old building on Church Lane. You usually have to walk up the stairs because the lift is not very reliable. Room 304 A is where Calcutta Shipping Bureau is located. It is right near the GPO, so the street outside is always full of people and vendors. Inside the office, it is mostly just stacks of paper and the sound of the fan. We deal with shipping documents and customs forms all day long. It can be quite confusing with all the different rules, but we have been doing it for a long time. The walls are a bit faded and the floor shows its age. We have one window that looks out over the street, which is nice for watching the rain. People come in with their documents and we sit down to sort through the details. It is not a fast-paced environment like those new tech firms. It is more about being steady and getting the paperwork right. We drink tea and chat about local news when things are slow. Sometimes we have to stay late if a shipment is running behind. The other offices in the building are mostly small businesses like ours. It is a bit cramped when we have visitors, but we make it work. We do not need much to get the job done. Just a desk and a working phone.
