Our office is located in Illaco House, on the 4th floor. It’s a big old building at 1 and 3 Brabourne Road in Kolkata. Being near the Regional Passport Office means the street is always packed with people and vendors. You have to be careful walking around there. Inside Illaco House, it feels a bit more like stepping back in time. Kores India Ltd. has been around for a long time, and you can feel that history in the high ceilings and the old-style windows. We have a lot of desks spread out. It’s a busy place with people moving papers around and phones ringing constantly. We aren't really a modern glass-and-steel kind of office. It’s more traditional. We deal with a lot of office supplies and stationery items. Boxes are stacked up in the hallways sometimes. The elevators are old and sometimes you have to wait a while for them. We have a lot of staff who have been here for decades. They know the building inside and out. Lunchtime is always a bit of a scramble because everyone goes out to the nearby stalls for food. It’s a loud, vibrant part of the city. We just go about our business every day. It’s a lot of logistics and coordinating with other departments. It’s solid work in a part of Kolkata that never seems to sleep. There is always a stack of ledgers to go through and something to sign.
