Our office is over at 27, Brabourne Road here in Kolkata. This building is always humming with activity, and there’s a real mix of businesses all squeezed in together. We do our trading work from a small room on one of the floors. It’s not the most modern setup you’ll ever see, but it gets the job done for us. We have a couple of old wooden cupboards filled with ledgers and files that go back a few years. The windows look out onto the street, so it’s never really quiet, but we like the energy of the neighborhood. Being in the 700001 zip code means we are right where the trade happens. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment, just what we need to keep track of the goods and the money. The staff here is small, mostly just a few of us who have known each other for a long time. We don't bother with big meetings or corporate talk. We just show up, see what needs to be done for the day, and do it. Sometimes we stay late when a big shipment is coming in, eating rolls from the shop downstairs while we work. It’s a bit of a messy business at times, but it’s ours and we’ve built it up slowly over the seasons. We don't have any big promises to make, we just try to be honest and get the trading done.
