Shree Niwas Textiles

We are located at No. 223 Bidhan Sarani on the 3rd floor. It is right near the Thanthania Kali Mandir, which is a big landmark around here. You have to walk up the stairs since we are above the SBI branch. It’s a bit of a climb, but it keeps us moving. Our shop is full of textiles. We have rolls of fabric in every color you can think of, stacked from the floor up to the ceiling. Sometimes it feels like the walls are made of cloth. Because we are on the 3rd floor, we don't get as much street noise as the shops downstairs, which is a nice change. We spend the day unrolling fabric, measuring it out for customers, and cutting it with these big heavy scissors we’ve had for years. People come to Shree Niwas Textiles for all kinds of reasons—maybe they want to make a new dress or they need some material for curtains. We don't do the sewing ourselves, we just provide the cloth. It’s interesting to see what people pick out and imagine what they’re going to make with it. The light coming through the windows is usually pretty good for seeing the true colors of the threads. We have a small desk where we keep our accounts and a few chairs for people to sit on while they wait. It’s a steady way to spend the day.
