You can find K. N. Machine Tools Private Limited over at 13-B Bidhan Sarani in Burra Bazaar. If you know Burra Bazaar, you know it is one of the most crowded and busy places you could ever work in. The streets are narrow and there is always someone carrying something heavy or a cart pushing past. Our building is old, like most things in this part of town, but it has a lot of history to it. We deal with machine tools, which means we spend a lot of time around heavy metal parts and the smell of oil. It is not a clean or quiet job, but it is what we do. The office part is just a small corner where we keep the ledgers and the telephone. We’ve been here for quite a while, seeing the market change year after year. Dealing with logistics in Burra Bazaar is always a challenge because of the traffic, but we manage to get things moved. We don’t have a big website or a social media person. We just talk to the people who come to the door and try to help them find the tool they are looking for. It’s a very traditional way of doing business, face to face. Sometimes it gets overwhelming with the noise outside, but once you’re inside the shop, it feels like home to us. It’s just hard work every day, and we wouldn't know what to do with ourselves if we weren't here in the middle of it all.
