Asma Aluminum

Our workshop, Asma Aluminum, is situated on Garia Baruipur Road near Jogibartala. It is a very busy stretch of road and there is always noise from the trucks passing by. We have a lot of metal sheets and aluminum frames stacked up around the place. It isn't the cleanest shop because of all the metal filings and dust from the road. We spend our days measuring and cutting things to size. My hands are usually stained grey by the time I go home. We don't have a fancy showroom where you can sit on a sofa. You just come to the counter and tell us what you need. Most of our work comes from people building small houses or shops in the Baruipur area. We’ve been at this spot for quite a few years now. The heat can get pretty bad in the afternoon because of the metal roof. We just drink a lot of water and keep moving. Sometimes the deliveries are late because the traffic on the main road gets backed up for miles. We just wait it out and talk to the other shop owners nearby. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. People just find us by word of mouth or by seeing our board on the road. It’s honest, hard work and we are okay with that. We just try to get the orders done on time so we can close up and head home to our families.
