Our office is up on the 4th floor of City Heights, right over at Dak Bungalow More in Barasat. It’s a busy part of Jessore Road, so there’s always a lot going on outside the windows. The elevator can be a bit slow some days, but we’ve gotten used to the wait. Working at Saha Mercantile Pvt. Ltd. means dealing with a lot of paperwork and phone calls throughout the week. It’s not the most exciting work, but it keeps us busy and pays the bills. The view from the fourth floor isn’t bad, though it’s mostly just roofs and the tops of trees along the road. Most of us take the bus or a rickshaw to get here. The traffic at the intersection downstairs can be a nightmare during rush hour. We usually keep some snacks in the drawer because lunch breaks tend to get pushed back when things get hectic. It’s a professional enough space, but we keep it relaxed inside. We do not really do the whole corporate suit and tie thing unless it’s absolutely necessary. Most days it’s just jeans and shirts. We’ve been at this location for a bit now, and we know most of the other folks in the building. It’s a decent community of workers here. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit around and talk until the backup kicks in. It’s just how things are in this part of town. We like it well enough.
