Our office is up on the 3rd floor at P-40 India Exchange Place. It’s an old building, one of those places with high ceilings and stairs that have seen a lot of feet over the years. Balaji Industries has been operating out of this space for quite some time. The elevator works most days, but sometimes you’re better off taking the stairs if you’re in a hurry. Being in this part of the city means it's always crowded outside. You hear the horns and the shouting from the street even three floors up. Inside, it’s mostly just the sound of papers moving and the occasional phone ringing. We don’t have any of those modern glass walls or bean bags you see in new offices. It’s just wooden desks, some old filing cabinets, and the people who have worked here since the start. We drink a lot of tea while we sort through the daily orders. It gets humid in the summer, and the fans just move the warm air around, but we’re used to it. We handle a lot of different things, whatever the customers need that day. It's practical work. No one here wears a suit unless they have to for a wedding. We just show up, do what’s on the list, and make sure things get sent out. It's a steady rhythm that hasn't changed much in years. If you find yourself near India Exchange Place, you’ll see the buzz of the market. We’re right in the middle of it.
