Baca Classes

Baca Classes is right on Zakariah Street, which is one of those parts of Kolkata that never really sleeps. We are directly opposite Mohammed Ali Park. If you know Chittaranjan Avenue, you can’t miss it. The building is number 52, and it’s got that old Kolkata charm, which means the walls are thick but the paint is definitely peeling in spots. We have a few rooms dedicated to the classes. It’s usually very loud outside because of the buses and the honking, so we keep the windows shut even when it’s humid. We have some ceiling fans that do their best. The desks are the long wooden kind where three or four students sit together. We’ve been here for a good while. You’ll often find us sitting at the main desk sorting through papers or talking to a parent who just wandered in from the park across the street. We don't use any fancy software to track things; it’s mostly just handwritten registers and a few folders. It’s a bit cramped when the evening batches arrive, and the hallway gets filled with shoes. It’s a very local, very busy place. We just focus on the teaching and let the rest of the city go on around us.
