Automax

Our shop is tucked away at 9/1 Motisil Street, right in the middle of Dharmatala. If you know Kolkata, you know how hectic this area gets with all the buses and people rushing by. Automax has been sitting here for quite some time now, and the building shows its age a little bit. The walls inside could probably use a new coat of paint, but we're usually too busy to bother with that. It's a small space, mostly filled with parts and bits of hardware that we keep on the shelves. Most of the morning is spent checking what came in and talking to the regulars who stop by. It gets really humid in the afternoons, so we usually have the old fan running at full speed, though it doesn't do much. Sometimes the rain comes down so hard on Motisil Street that the water starts creeping near the door, and we have to watch out for that. We aren't trying to be anything special, just a regular business in a busy part of town. People come here because they know the address and they know we’ve been around. The sidewalk outside is always crowded with street vendors, so you have to keep your eyes open to find the entrance. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside when more than two people walk in at once. We just do our work and go home when the sun goes down.
